I would use a P-Bass Special Fender Deluxe body full neck support on a smaller scale. If this does not work and send a ball out of control?

Length scale is not only the extent of the neck.
Without too much mind-numbing detail, the distance (from center nut to 12 fret), the distance between the center correspond to (12. the presidency of the Confederation Bridge over the 3 / 8 "). The switch to a shorter neck makes this almost impossible.
Yes, all trying to sleep will change with scale lengths of the sound and intonation to be missing.
You can change to a shorter scale neck, but that would mean changing the position of the bridge, to match the length scale
